what we collect, why, who sees it, and how to have it deleted.
Updated as of October 29, 2026
The Bay Lawn Club ("the club", "we", "us") is a free, informal, volunteer-run tennis group in San Francisco, organized by Krrish Ghindani. This policy explains what information we collect through baylawnclub.com and the waitlist form, what we do with it, who can see it, and the choices you have. We've tried to keep it short and plain. If anything here is unclear, email contact@baylawnclub.com.
The short version
- We only collect what you choose to type into the waitlist form, plus the basic technical data any website receives.
- We use it to run the club: reading applications, pairing players, and emailing you about mornings.
- We never sell it, rent it, or use it for advertising.
- There are no ads, no analytics, and no tracking cookies on this site.
- You can ask us to show you, fix, or delete your information at any time.
1. Information you give us
When you fill in the waitlist form, we collect whatever you choose to enter. Depending on what you fill in, that can include:
- Contact details: name, email, phone number, and neighborhood.
- About you: gender, age range, role, company, what you're working on, things you're proud of, and your interests.
- Online profiles: links to LinkedIn, X/Twitter, Instagram, a personal website, or other profiles.
- Tennis: rating, years playing, handedness, preferred format, and availability.
- Preferences: who you'd like to meet or play with, and how you heard about us.
- Your agreement to our Terms & Waiver and this policy, with the date and time you submitted.
Most fields are optional. Please don't include sensitive information we haven't asked for, such as health details, government ID numbers, or financial information.
If you email us, we also keep that email and your address so we can reply.
2. Information collected automatically
Like almost every website, when you visit baylawnclub.com your browser sends standard technical information (your IP address, browser type, the pages you request, and the time) to the services that deliver the site:
- Hostinger hosts the site and its content delivery network, and keeps routine server logs for security and reliability.
- Google Fonts serves the site's typefaces, so your browser contacts Google to load them.
- Google Maps opens only if you click a map link, such as the court address.
We don't use analytics, advertising pixels, or tracking cookies, and we don't build profiles of your browsing. The only thing the site saves in your browser is whether you picked light or dark mode (in your browser's local storage). It never leaves your device, and you can clear it anytime in your browser settings.
3. How we use your information
- To read your application and decide when there's a spot for you.
- To pair you with other players by level and by what you're into.
- To email or text you about the club: confirmations, reminders, rain cancellations, and updates.
- To introduce you to other members, only in ways you'd expect from the form (for example, being paired on court).
- To keep the club safe and running well, including removing someone if needed.
- To meet any legal obligations.
We don't use your information for marketing anything, and we never use it to make automated decisions about you.
4. Who can see it
- Krrish Ghindani, who organizes the club.
- A small number of volunteers who help run it (for example, helping read applications, pairing players, or sending reminders), only as much as they need for that job, and only on the understanding that they keep it private.
- Service providers that store or carry the data for us: Google (the waitlist form submits to a private Google Sheet through Google Apps Script), our email provider, and Hostinger. They handle it under their own privacy terms and security.
- Other members see only what naturally comes with playing together, such as your first name on a pairing. We never share your contact details, profiles, or form answers with other members without asking you first.
- Authorities, only if we're legally required to, or if it's needed to protect someone's safety.
We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we don't "share" it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
5. Photos
We sometimes take photos at mornings. We only post or tag people who say yes. If you're in a photo you don't want online, email us and we'll take it down.
6. How long we keep it
We keep your application while you're on the waitlist or playing with us. If you ask us to delete it, we'll do so within 30 days. We also clear out applications from people who haven't been in touch or played for two years. Copies in backups or email may take a little longer to disappear.
7. Your choices and rights
Email contact@baylawnclub.com at any time to:
- see what we have about you,
- correct or update it,
- delete it and leave the waitlist,
- stop getting emails or texts from us (you can also just reply "stop").
We'll respond within 30 days, and we won't treat you differently for asking. Depending on where you live, privacy laws (such as California's) may give you additional rights; we'll honor them.
8. Do Not Track
Because we don't track you across websites or over time, the site behaves the same whether or not your browser sends a "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control signal. No third parties are allowed to collect information about your online activities through this site, other than the providers listed in section 2.
9. Security
We keep the waitlist in a private Google account, limit who can see it, and use encrypted (HTTPS) connections for the site and the form. No system is perfectly secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security. If we ever learn of a breach that affects your information, we'll let you know as required by law.
10. Children
This site and the club aren't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has sent us information, email us and we'll delete it.
11. Links to other sites
The site links to other services, such as Google Maps and social media. Their privacy practices are their own, and we're not responsible for them.
12. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update it here and update the date at the top. If the change is significant, we'll email people on the waitlist.
13. Contact
